Dear Members of ISD 728 School Board,
Last week I learned a proposed bill I recently had drafted was referenced during open forum at the Board’s regular meeting. The purpose of this email is to forward members of the Board a copy of the language of my proposed bill (PDF attached to this email).
I had the proposed bill language drafted after multiple constituents / residents of ISD 728 contacted me expressing their concerns over actions by the Board resulting in a detrimental impact / chilling effect on the public’s ability to address the Board during open forum and the public’s ability to access subsequent archives of comments made during open forum. I am firmly committed to the truth accountability within government can only be achieved when citizen free-speech rights and government transparency are maximized.
The MN Legislature reconvenes the 2022 regular legislative session the end of January at which time I intend to introduce the attached proposed bill.
